Founder & Therapist
Takia is a daughter, sister, mother, auntie, cousin, and friend to many. They are also a licensed independent clinical social worker in MA, who was born and raised in Roxbury (02119) & Dorchester (02124). She loves her family, people, and community deeply. Takia has worked with Black Womxn to address their mental health needs for several years and truly loves the work of helping them become fulfilled and thrive!
Takia has an associate’s degree in culinary arts, a bachelor’s of science in business management and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies, and her masters in social work from Boston College, where she is an adjunct professor. Takia is trained and well-versed in Narrative Therapy, Somatic Abolitionism, and Emotion-Focused Therapy for Couples. As a yoga teacher, they also offer body-based techniques in clinical sessions to help ease symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
In her free time, you can catch her out in the garden enjoying nature, kicking it with her homegirls, or shamelessly devouring coffee madness ice cream! She is the epitome of UNBOUGHT, UNBOSSED, and UNAPOLOGETIC. She created Nurturing Essence to prioritize our intersectional identities.
