Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?

I do not accept insurance directly, as it often requires clinical labels and treatment limits that don’t always align with the realities of trauma, especially in Black communities. It also sometimes forces care into narrow boxes, including diagnoses that can overlook the nuances of exploring intersectional identities. I offer care that centers your healing on your terms, in an environment that respects your pace and your story. This kind of work takes time, cultural context, and space - things insurance doesn’t always support. My approach is affirming, culturally responsive, and grounded in your lived experience, not clinical checklists. I offer a relational, decolonized perspective that centers your lineage, resilience, and truth. Superbills are available for out-of-network reimbursement, and I reserve a few sliding scale slots to support access needs. I’m happy to talk you through this process, yet under no circumstances will I communicate with your insurance provider.

What are your fees?

My standard rate for individual therapy is $260 per 50-minute session. If cost is the only barrier, let’s have a conversation to see what might work better for you.

Do you offer in-person or online sessions?

I ONLY offer sessions through telehealth. All you need is a private space free from distractions and a reliable internet connection.

Do you specialize in specific issues?

Yes, I specialize in addressing trauma-related concerns with a focus on the interconnection of racialized gender and sexuality.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, what we discuss stays between us. There are a few exceptions where I am legally required to break confidentiality, such as if there is a risk of harm to you or someone else or in cases of abuse or neglect. We will review this in detail at our first session so you know exactly what to expect.

How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?

I may be the right therapist for you if: 1) You are prepared to dig deep, 2) You are willing to make hard decisions to improve your life, and 3) You know it is time to prioritize yourself.

How do I know you are not the right therapist for me?

I am not the right therapist for you if: 1) You are not ready to be challenged or try out anything new, 2) Truth makes you uncomfortable, and 3) You do not want to explore functioning beyond the surface level.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

I understand life be LIFE-ing! If something arises and you need to cancel or reschedule, contact us at least 48 hours in advance. This prevents the half-session late cancellation fee.
